Developer
Position Summary
The Developer, Front-End reports to the Associate Creative Director, Digital and is responsible for the development and support of web related projects for both the agency and our clients. The developer is expected to be knowledgeable in relevant aspects of interaction design, user interface, systems development, basic methods and manners of media development, content management, as well as working with designers and server-side developers.

Position Description:
  • Meet with client services and creative teams to discuss objectives and reliably estimate work and timelines.
  • Work with the creative team to concept and implement UI, mobile, email, web sites, and interactive ads that are functional, dynamic, effective, and capable of maintaining the brand image.
  • Periodically interact with clients on specific projects.
  • Stay current within the development community to track trends and emerging technologies.
  • Learn new technologies as needed.
  • Develop, debug, and support new projects.
  • Maintain current code base and enhance existing projects.
  • Collaborate with our staff to set development standards and best practice.
  • Ability to juggle multiple simultaneous projects.
Experience Requirements
  • 3+ years experience with front-end web development
  • Expert ability at writing accessible, semantic, and clean HTML markup
  • Hands-on experience with HTML5 and CSS3
  • Demonstrated ability with JavaScript
  • Experience with jQuery, node.js, JSON, and Object-oriented programming
  • Experience with PHP, Ruby, or similar server-side languages
  • Native mobile development is a plus
  • An eye for detail and precision
  • Strong interpersonal skills
Senior Designer, Motion Graphics
Position Summary
The Senior Designer, Motion Graphics reports to Associate Creative Director, Digital. The MGD is responsible for creating animated artwork for a variety of mediums – from concept through production – working collaboratively with other members of the creative team.

Position Description:
  • Provide motion graphic design solutions from concept to final execution (including storyboarding)
  • Meet with ACD (and CD when appropriate) to discuss design directions and objectives as well as schedule and other project parameters.
  • Work with the creative team to concept and implement multimedia, mobile, and Flash projects including web sites, interactive ads, flash video players, landing pages, micro-sites, and Rich internet applications.
  • Demonstrates the ability to think conceptually and strategically. The ability to provide rationale for design solutions and how they support the project's objectives.
  • Is passionate about keeping work fresh, discovering new trends within design and within their area of focus.
  • Participates in projects from the development of initial comps through final delivery, including:
    • Development of materials, through various rounds until approval.
    • Development of final art, ensuring it meets specifications and requirements of project.
    • Archiving and file management in accordance with agency process.
  • Reports to the ACD (and CD when appropriate) ensuring that their contribution to the execution of the creative work is delivered according to the quality and accuracy standards set by the agency.
  • Work with Project Manager to ensure that the project schedules are being met when Design Director/Creative Director is unavailable.
Experience Requirements
  • 5-7+ years of solid brand and design experience, with exposure to digital marketing materials, websites and interactive projects, events, advertising, and retail display, etc.
  • The talent and experience to produce world-class design solutions.
  • Understanding of trends in digital motion graphics, video/cinematography, typography, photography, illustration, color and design.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and adhere to design direction set by team leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (open, friendly and supportive attitude).

Group Creative Director
Position Summary
The Group Creative Director (GCD) is based in Portland and is responsible for providing leadership to the Portland Creative Services organization engaged on client work across both of Liquid's offices. The GCD provides direct management to the Portland creative team (which may include, but not limited to: design, copy, programming, etc.) and is tasked with maintaining the highest possible level of strategic and creative excellence on the work the Liquid delivers to clients. The GCD reports directly to the Executive Creative Director (ECD) and takes direction from the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) on select projects.

Position Description:
The GCD's primary responsibilities are to:
  • Contribute creative ideas, expertise and effective leadership to the Creative Services teams* primarily in Portland, but also in San Jose offices and work collaboratively with other internal teams (Brand Strategy, Client Service, New Business, etc.) as well as the Clients' teams (as required).
  • Enhance the quality, depth and breadth of creative strategy, conceptual thinking and design execution.
  • Deepen existing client relationships, cross-sell capabilities and support new business efforts.
As the most senior manager of Creative Services teams in the Portland office, this role includes staffing, resourcing and profitability responsibilities for the Portland office. The GCD is ultimately responsible for delivering and selling work that meets and exceeds client expectations, ensuring that the Portland Creative Services team deliver on all the project objectives (strategic, financial, and timeline) while enhancing the reputation of the firm.

Role Functions:
  • Provide direct supervision and mentoring of Portland Creative Directors, Associate Creative Directors, and supporting Creative Services teams.
  • Lead concept development, execution and presentation of creative solutions across multiple client engagements.
  • Discuss project's objectives and parameters with Client and Client Services teams, and contribute to Creative Briefs outlining the strategic approach.
  • Lead client presentations (along with selected Creative, Brand Strategy and Client Services team members).
  • Work collaboratively with Client Services teams to proactively develop/grow current relationships.
  • Support Client Directors in the creation of RFP Response Documents and Proposals by providing ideas, strategies and solution.
  • Support the Business Development effort by creating and participating in introductory and pitch presentations, as needed.
  • Provide ideas and management about Portland's organizational issues and the processes used by Creative Services to deliver effective solutions for clients; work collaboratively with the ECD in creating company-wide solutions.
  • As part of the management and mentoring efforts, GCD completes annual reviews of direct reports.
  • Work collaboratively with the Creative Resource Manager to assist with the Centralized Creative Management and associated staff for the Portland office.
Experience Requirements
  • 12+ years of Senior Creative Management experience (minimum of 5 years as a Creative Director), with a broad array of expertise in branding, design, advertising, social media, interactive and digital marketing (advertising and promotion), video/motion graphics, etc.; environment/retail design a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to concept with writers and creative partners.
  • Confident leadership with solid experience managing creative groups of 20+ and a variety of freelance consultants and disciplines.
  • High-level strategic and entrepreneurial thinker with a clear understanding of branding, marketing and business strategies.
  • Proven business experience inrunning and co-managing large, global accounts and creative services departments/ businesses.
  • Ability to manage budgets, resources and timelines for multiple projects running simultaneously while meeting profit goals.
  • The talent and experience to develop compelling creative solutions on complex, multi-dimensional projects in fast-paced deadline-oriented environments.
  • Demonstrated award-wining creative and best practices leadership ability.
  • Effective and persuasive presentation skills and the ability to articulate strategic creative solutions to high level clients at Product Manager, CMO, and CEO levels.
  • Experience in selling brand marketing work – cross-selling, up-selling with existing clients and in new business situations.
  • Sophisticated strategic analysis and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of creative methodology.
  • Ability to translate strategic vision into tangible project deliverables.
  • Outstanding ability to build solid relationships with internal Client Services; strong interpersonal skills (open, friendly, patient, pragmatic and supportive attitude).
  • Great team member and team builder willingness to travel up to 35%.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Digital Media Design or Interactive Design.
